SunTrust Mortgage, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of SunTrust Bank. When SunTrust Banks, Inc. acquired Crestar Financial Corporation of Richmond, Virginia, in 1998, SunTrust Mortgage was created from the merger of the former Crestar Mortgage Corporation with SunTrust's first-mortgage residential lending company. SunTrust Mortgage services loans in 50 states and the District of Columbia. It maintains retail relationships in twelve states in the Mid Atlantic and Southeast — Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia, and correspondent and wholesale relationships in 49 states.
